Read Megan's story
Megan Smalley applied for the Revesby Rural Activities Fund to help her attend the University of Nottingham, where she is studying for a Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy.
Here’s what she had to say…
“I was so shocked to find out my grant application was successful, it has made all the difference to my studies. It has enabled me to attend university and facilitated the many placements I have to attend across the country in order to pass. I enjoy living in a rural area, but it has brought challenges in both commuting and financing attending university in another city. It is such a lovely idea to be helping those in rural communities; I am so grateful for the help of the grant.”

Archie Joynes is one of the recent beneficiaries of the Revesby Rural Activities Fund. He completed a Level 3 City and Guilds Course in Equine Management at Riseholme College before being accepted onto a forgework course at Moreton Morrell College, which he started in September 2024.
He has had a passion for horses for a long time and has always wanted to be a farrier, having spent some time with local farriers in the area.
Here’s what he had to say…
“I’m so grateful for the grant I received from the fund – it helped me a great deal, enabling me to buy a portable forge to practise my metal work skills. I enjoy living in a rural area, but it does bring some problems when finding work. It is great that there is a fund for people such as myself to help.”

Here’s what she had to say…
“I never thought I would be successful in the application but it goes to show, if you don’t try you never know! I am now able to pull a trailer and it’s all down to the Revesby Country Fair bursary. So thank you!”
